Namaste,

Rugby branch is very pleased to report on another successful and memorable year. The work of the committee, together with the support of the membership, is something which we can all be really proud.

The highlights from 2013 are:
A Bollywood themed dinner and dance was held at the end of the year to celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema. Guests were entertained with an evening of lively Bollywood hits from the decades by the live band“ Music Lovers”.
A magnificent £ 1,000 was raised in aid of the Hospital of St Cross Rugby( UHCW) Charity. Guest speaker Paula Rose from the hospital described the role of UHCW Charity and how the donations they receive are used to make a real difference to local people by funding equipment and facilities for the Hospital of St Cross that the NHS cannot afford.
We are delighted to report that the hospital used our donation to purchase a Coaguchek; a machine used to check a patient’ s International Normalised Ratio( INR). This will be used by the Haematology and Endoscopy departments.
The INR is a measure of how readily a patient’ s blood will form clots. The test is recognised globally and is instantly recognisable to all healthcare

The branch participants did the town proud once more!

In July 2013 we took a coach party to the seaside town of Skegness. All those who came along had a great day enjoying the warm sunny weather at this popular resort.
During the month of Shradhdh a Bhajan and Bhojan programme was hosted by the branch in remembrance of our beloved ones who have passed away.
The branch is very grateful to all the hearty volunteers and the donations received.
The annual Meet & Greet on Bestu Varsh proved yet again popular with many members attending this event, enabling them to socialise and meet up with other family members and friends.
At the Sports Day held on the 30th August 2013 in Loughborough, the branch participants did the town proud once more. We took the top honours in the over 40s Football, Volleyball, Men’ s Pool and Jnrs Pool, plus runners up in Jnr Table Tennis and Men’ s Double’ s Darts. To cap this great day for the branch, we were awarded the Fair Play Trophy. Well done to all our participants who took part.
Finally, the committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for their continued support and wish all readers A Happy Diwali and Prosperity for the coming year.
