Mahila Samelan Volunteers numbered more than a hundred and whose work included marshalling duties, looking after the elderly and disabled, preparing puris, serving breakfast and lunch. This conference showed great community spirit and brought out the best from our branch members. Grateful thanks to ALL! Other key events held over past 12 months included: Satya Narayan Bhagwan Katha (Sun 29th Jul 2012): Rugby Branch held their first Samuh Katha during the month of Shravan. There were 4 groups who took part in the pooja. The Katha was followed by Bhojan Prasad. Bhajan & Bhojan (Sat 13th Oct 2012): Rugby hosted the second Bhajan and Bhojan programme during the month of Shradh to remember our loved ones who have passed away. Sport’s Day 2012: Rugby Branch sporting talents did the town proud once more taking top honours in Junior Football, Volleyball, Junior & Men’s Pool plus being runner-up in Junior Pool & Darts doubles. Well done to ALL our participants. Dinner & Dance (Sat 1st Dec 2012): The event raised £1001 for the British Heart Foundation, which was supported by around 200 people. A wide age range of guests attended, and all enjoyed a splendid meal and live music till late into the night. This was a great way to finish a very successful year and also to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause. At the national AGM in 2012, Nikhil Mistry, who has served the branch for nearly 10 years, was elected as SPA (UK) Youth Leader. We wish Nikhil every success in this post. Finally the committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for their continued support & wish all readers a Happy Diwali & Prosperity for the coming year.
