Treasurer Report
Namaste
H
ere we are 12 months on and
nearing the end of 2013. Time
again to give you, the members
an update from the treasurer.
Over the past twelve months we have held
many events such as Mahila Samelan,
Annual Sports Day and the Single? Let’s
Mingle! Many members participated,
however, it is noted that the attendance
is falling for a number of events. It is
through these events that our Association
tries to build up funds in order to carry
out our charitable work. From the funds
collected, we distribute them through our
International Trust Fund (ITF) committee
who administers charitable applications.
As a charitable organisation, we are
expected to donate to worthwhile causes.
We do our best to fulfil this requirement.
As always, our Association does need
more funds to in order to support more
charitable applicants and charitable
causes in the future.
This year we introduced the gathering of
our senior members of the community.
All the tickets allocated for this event
were taken up. Lots of ‘old’ friends met
up after a very long time. The need for
this type of social event was such that
our seniors recommended to hold this
event on an annual basis. Once again this
event showed that our senior members are
more generous and believe in keeping our
culture and tradition going.
We produced and printed 5,000 copies
of the Bhajanawali books to raise funds
for charitable causes. I am very glad
to say that we have now almost sold
all the copies that we intended to sell.
The proceeds have been used to fund
charitable causes.
The Nairobi Trust Fund’s income has also
been used to fund charitable causes
through ITF. The current value of the fund
at the end of the financial period stood at
£ 110,430.00.
The repayment of the loan given to
London Branch has been consistent with
the repayment terms. We anticipate the
balance outstanding to be paid by end of
the 2013/2014 financial period.
I am also very pleased that this year we
have two assistants on the treasury team;
Ranjanben and Puspaben from London
Branch. Now the overall burden of the
financial management has been well
spread out. I would also like to express
my gratitude to Jay Mistry of London,
our accounts examiner, for providing
tremendous support in establishing the
new format of finance record keeping
using finance accounts software package.
Finally, I would like to thank all the
members who have helped the finance
team to carry out our functions.
Jai Shree Krishna,
Mr. Rajnikant Mistry
