Weblink- picture caption Namaste, eicester branch is committed to actively carry out its duty to charity fund appeals. Ever since Leicester established its own building, members at Leicester Branch have held events to raise funds for various charities. It has donated thousands of pounds to many charities (to name a few): Children In Need, Loros, Mobile eye clinic in India, and international disasters like Tsunami, Earth Quakes in Bhuj, and Haiti. L This year, Leicester is raising funds for the WaterAid appeal undertaken by SPA (UK) through a dinner and dance event on Saturday 30th November 2013. We are proud of our Mahilas who 64 organised a charity Bhajan and raised over £1,200 in one session. Those who attended the session not only donated towards the WaterAid Project but their thoughts were also with the victims of the Uttarakhand flood disaster. Leicester Branch goes further in helping those SPA members who participate in charity events who approach us for sponsorship or donation towards their chosen charity. Leicester branch took on the challenge of hosting SPA (UK) Sports Day this year, held at Loughborough University on Saturday 31st August 2013. Sports Day offers a wide range of sports for all ages to compete in sports like Football, Netball, Volleyball, Cricket, Darts, Table Tennis, Swimming, Badminton, Carum, Squash, Golf and Pool, and is a nationwide competition which sees participation from all branches across the UK. It was very encouraging to see lots of young people coming on board and taking part in the various sports. We would like to express our thanks to all of the volunteers who helped and gave up their Saturday to help with the Sports Day. The event was managed by Sonalben, Leicester Youth & Sports Trustee. It was a very stressful task but she managed really well - congratulations on a job well done and thanks to everyone who assisted.
