Is Spa necessity or Luxury?

There is not much out there that can beat a good massage or spa treatment when you are tired and stressed, or just plain-in-need of some pampering. As North Americans we don’t indulge enough; if you were in a room full of say 25 people and asked, "Who has been to a spa?" How many hands would rise up?

Less than half of the people for sure maybe even as low as 10%. It’s even lower for the male population - guys don’t go to the spa much, females go 80% more. That all said when was the last time you had some pampering?

I recently heard Tanya Chernova speak, asking what are your beliefs? She is a very exuberant speaker and we filled out a questionnaire on what does our belief system tell us, and one of the questions asked was, "Are spas a luxury item?" I wrote down yes.

So when we gave our answers to these questions she asked why do we believe that a spa treatment is luxury when it clearly betters us emotionally and physically? For many it is necessity with proven results.

Europeans have been making going to the spa a part of their lives for hundreds of years and for many spa treatments are covered by their health plans. So there I sat, shell-shocked.

A massage treats so many things. A pedicure rids feet of calluses and repairs dry skin. A facial helps anti-aging, rids skin of blemishes, and for larger spas with salt waters, people feel better etc. Whatever treatment you choose there are benefits to each one.

So for those that nay say that ‘treating’ yourself to the spa is a luxury, those words that we have seen on commercials for years,‘I am worth it’ clearly means you are investing in something incredibly valuable- you!
