A black horse with the dun gene is called a grulla, and it is a gray color
with black points. It also has a black shoulder mark in a shark fin shape. In the
lower barrel it is a very light tan. There are no white hairs mixed in with the body
color.
The dun that can be mistaken for a buckskin is a classic dun with the light
tan body coat and dark points. From a distance where you cannot see the dorsal
stripe or the zebra stripes on the legs, the two look very similar. Also confusing
is the fact that some buckskins can have a dark back stripe, but these are
broader with fuzzy edges, unlike the very clean and narrow dun stripe.
