A quiet spot to go flyfishing is Coyote Creek State Park between

Angel Fire and Mora. The creek is densely stocked with Rainbow

and native Trout.

Just half an hour from Santa Fe, Cerillos Hills State Park offers

five miles of trails for hiking, biking, or equestrian use. The rolling

Juniper-covered hills have a rich turquoise mining hitsory going

back over 1,000 years.

The spring turkey hunt begins April 15.

Percha Dam State Park 20 miles south of Truth or Consequences

on Hwy 187 is warbler heaven in late April. Situated along the

Rio Grande, it is the perfect place for migrant birds to stop for

refreshment on their journey northward. It is said that the trees

are dripping with warblers—how can you resist?

The breathtaking Nambe Falls opens in Early April. This park is

located on the Nambe Indian Reservation, and offers campsites

with water and electric hookups. Fishing is allowed on Nambe

Lake. Different permits must be bought for day use, fishing,

camping, and even taking pictures. Though it may seem a bit

pricey, the river, falls, and lake are beautiful. The park is located

16 miles north of Santa Fe.
