LETTER FROM THE EDITOR W hy do people like to read Southern Writers Magazine? Because of the authors in each issue. They invite us into their worlds and share their lives with us. And they are most gracious and giving in sharing their writing tips and techniques that have made them a success. We are all on this journey together and it is nice to know that helping hands are always outstretched from caring authors. Through their kindness and generosity writers can hone their skills by reading the methods they use and see it in action by reading their books. The next few months we will see the birth of new leaves and flowers budding and opening, a beautiful time of year. With these births we will also see the birth of new books releasing for our reading pleasure. Being an avid reader, I am anxious for the new books. We have added new authors to our Gallery of Stars and enjoy promoting the authors and their books to readers throughout the year. Having a magazine promote you and your books is like having a built-in staff of promoters. Our author’s community, Suite T, is always a delight to visit. Authors talk about writing, promoting and marketing. Have you been a guest on Suite T? It’s important that readers see an author’s name repeatedly. You can never have to much exposure in publicity. This is also a great time of year to plan out your continuing education. From a Master’s in Creative Writing (Reinhardt University) to conferences being held across the country, writer groups––there are plenty of avenues for us to hone our skills. As writers we need to continue to learn our craft, after all, change is constant. Happy Writing! Susan Reichert Editor-in-Chief
