NATIONAL TRAILS DAY HIKE
Twin Falls Resort State Park June 7 from 5-7 a. m. Watch the sunrise over the beautiful West Virginia hills by joining the sunrise hike for National Trails Day! Meet the park naturalist at the Cliffside trail head for an intermediate 3.5 mile hike. Helpful items to bring are: water, sturdy shoes and flashlight.

WINGS OF WONDER: WV BIRDS OF PREY Twin Falls Resort State Park August 23 from 7 – 8 p. m. The“ Wings of Wonder: WV Birds of Prey” program is coming to Twin Falls Resort State Park on August 23 at 7 p. m. The event is free, open to the public and great for all ages. Come meet 6 native WV Raptor Ambassadors close up, including live owls, falcons, hawk and our bald eagle Regis. Learn about the habitats they live in, the foods they eat, their unique abilities and the dangers they face. Pick up pro-active tips for helping wild birds and get a chance to ask questions during this award-winning interactive program. Meet at the ball field.
MONROE COUNTY PEACH FESTIVAL August 30 from noon- 6 p. m. You don’ t want to miss a day of family fun, including play time on the state’ s largest outdoor bounce pad, a family scavenger hunt in the fairy garden, kid’ s axe throwing, hoop shooting, tractor-pulled barrel train rides at 3 PM, food trucks, a flea market, and craft vendors. W. VA. BIRDS OF PREY PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP Three Rivers Avian Center Oct. 11 from 1-4 p. m. Photographers are invited for the opportunity to photograph birds of prey during the spring and fall Birds of Prey Photography Workshops on Saturday, May 17 and on Saturday, Oct. 11. The focus of the workshop is photographing the birds. Professional photographer Steven Wayne Rotsch and TRAC co-directors Ron and Wendy Perrone offer amateur to professional photographers the opportunity to capture images of West Virginia’ s birds of prey in natural settings. Photographers of all skill levels will also be able to pick up technical tips during one-on-one sessions with the instructor. Once again, the focus of this workshop is photographing the birds. One hundred percent of the registration fees benefit TRAC, a 501( c) 3 nonprofit organization. Participants can sign up for the full-day 9 a. m.-4 p. m., session for $ 100, or either the morning session from 9 a. m.-noon or the afternoon session from 1-4 p. m., for $ 50.
