T IMES SOUTHERN Plattekill Town Board approves sale of library building By STACIA DONALDSON At the October 2 Plattekill Town Board meeting, Board members passed a resolution allowing the Plattekill Public Library to purchase the building and property in which it currently resides from the Town of Plattekill. The property, located at 2047 State Road 32 in Modena, has been the subject of on-going negotiations between the Plattekill Public Library and the Town of Plattekill since 2016. Recently, all parties came to an agreement. According to the newly passed Town of Plattekill Resolution #12 for 2019, the library building and property will be sold to the Plattekill Public Library for a sum of $275,000. The Plattekill Public library first inquired about the possibility of purchasing the building and grounds in 2016. At the April 20, 2016 meeting of the Plattekill Town Board, a letter, sent to Town Board by Library Director John Georghiou on behalf of the library trustees, inquired about the possibility of purchasing of the library building. A high demand for meeting spaces at the library, compounded with limited room in the library building, has made the library trustees look for ways to better utilize its current location.
