The law allows these farms in commercial and residential areas in town provided developers have a minimum of 10 acres along with ensuring there is proper buffering, screening and drainage on the site. Rodriguez gave updates on Phase Ia, the first scope of work that went out for bid, Phase Ib and the project as a whole, the “big picture” and some of the alternates that were selected and a few others that were not chosen. Under Phase Ia by Key Contracting, the bus garage is completed, the High School and elementary schools are completed but the windows and doors at the Middle School that were to be finished by the end of the summer is now projected to be finished by October 1. Phase Ia site work- Meyer Contracting competed the bus garage at the high school and the scoreboard at the football field is finished. Some minor sidewalk caulking was also finished. Rodriguez said the work on the athletic field is “looking good and we’re going to be closing this contractor out pretty soon.” The electrical contract (light poles) at all three schools, also by Meyer Contracting, will be closed out soon.
