Recently two new businesses opened
in the hamlet of Highland
AA Groceries
Owner Ahmad Ahmad said he saw the
need for a grocery store in the hamlet and
contacted Dolly Decker, of Hello Dolly
Real Estate to find a storefront near the
center of town.
“I’ve been working in a retail food
business for seven years and I know
exactly what sells and what people need,
especially in communities small like this
when they don’t have one around,” he
said. “I keep the prices down to keep the
customers satisfied.”
Ahmad and his brother Khaled
opened the business on September 1 and
like their location.
“It’s great actually,” Ahmad said.
“People are loving it, they need it and
keep saying I’m so glad you opened and
they keep coming back, so that’s what
matters.”
Shape Up Nutrition
Owner Kevin McKenna has been a
Herbalife distributor for the past 15 years,
“and this is what’s called a Nutrition Club.
It’s not a store, it’s what’s considered a
Nutrition Club that we can do within our

business where we can serve healthy
complete meal shakes (200 calories)
made smoothy style plus some of our
other products – herbal concentrate tea
with aloe and protein bars and different
products like that. It’s open by invitation
but if people walk in we can serve them
for a daily consumption.”
