Bill Banuchi in the 104th NYS Assembly district. The unofficial tally has Skartados at 26,023 and Banuchi at 6,293. There are still absentee and affidavit ballots left to count but these are not expected to significantly change the outcome. Rev. Banuchi said running for elected office was a good experience, saying that he “learned a lot along the way.” He said the Republican Frank Skartados Party’s failure to register his name on time for their line was a contributing factor to his loss. “It relegated me to a minor party candidate with a Conservative Party but had we been on the Republican line the way we originally intended, we think we would have had a much better chance to be competitive,” he said. Sabarese said a security tape from the market clearly shows an individual backing the rig out and driving off west on Route 44/55, however, a face is not visible because a mirror on the driver’s side blocked it out. “We get in at 6 a.m., have our morning coffee, shoot the breeze, talking about where we’re going next to drill and a little past 7 it was light enough and we go outside and we noticed the cable going across the gate to block off our back lot is off,” he said. Sabarese knows he did not leave the cable off of the gate the previous evening and his father looked up and said the machine was gone. Sabarese pointed out “that whoever did this knows how to drive one of these rigs because a drill rig with a drill pipe on the right side and the drill pipe on top with the carousel is very top heavy; it is not like driving a flatbed. These things sway so whoever Continued on page 4 3 The drilling machine is on a 10 wheeler truck, is 35 feet long by 13 feet high, is ‘moonstone blue’ and has the company name on it.
