Transportation Director of Transportation Doug Carter performed a second ridership survey on in-district busses in early October that compared “favorably” with last June’s survey. To calculate bus ridership, Carter takes the average number of students who ride the bus over a two-day period and compares that to the number of assigned students, finding that this “was up on all three levels.” At the elementary school ridership increased from 72% to 79%; Middle School jumped from 62% to 65% and the High School rose from 52% to 62%. Carter noted that these results are “encouraging because they show that more students and parents are choosing to use the safest-known and most efficient means of pupil transportation.” He pointed at that the Middle and High School busses, however, are overbooked with 44 students per bus, while the Emma Friederich The Marlboro High School Drama Club presents Triangle, a play set against the backdrop of the tragic fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, with shows Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
