Fire company hosts 9th annual fundraiser

After a lengthy and at times heated
discussion at the Lloyd Town Board
meeting last week, representatives of
the Wine Village project received the
support of the board to reapply for a $2.5
million Consolidated Funding Grant to
bring water along Route 9W from Rite
Aid to Milton Turnpike.
Project Manager Andy Maxon said it
has been seven years since the idea of the
project at the end of Blue Point Road off
Route 9W was first brought to the town’s
attention. It was eventually approved
in late 2014. He said Marlborough
Supervisor Al Lanzetta has indicated
that his town is also in support of the
project.
Councilman Joe Mazzetti said he
supports the business community but if
the applicant receives less than the $2.5
million request, the taxpayers of Lloyd
should not be burdened with making
up the difference “of one dime, one
nickel or one penny. We have enough to
bear, we love our community.” Maxon
stressed that the towns will not incur
any cost in the CFA application or in the
construction of the line. He said if the
grant amount falls short of the needed
revenue, he might seek funding through
the Ulster County shovel ready program.
Maxon said the project was rezoned
to accommodate housing, a hotel/
conference center and light industrial
and commercial space. He said he could

raises approximately $10,000 each year
