They indicated that this is only a preliminary discussion and were simply making an inquiry to see if the board would consider the change. Supervisor Paul Hansut stressed that this was just a presentation and that the board was not taking any action at this time. He added Continued on page 4 Lloyd welcomes new police officer By MARK REYNOLDS [email protected] Last week, Patrick Witherow, Director of Business and Finance for the Marlboro School District, updated the school board on the district’s transportation costs, its Business Office Operations and budget projections in a PowerPoint presentation. Witherow said when Quality Bus Services was awarded the transportation contract the initial savings was estimated at $6,700 for the 2015-16 school year, but upon further analysis the anticipated savings will be $80,465. Witherow explained the $80K in savings: if the previous vendor, George M. Carroll, still had the contract the cost would have been $3,112,655 for the 201516 school year. The cost of Quality Bus Services, however, is $3,032,190 for this year. This later figure even includes the district’s annual expenditure of $25,000 for the fuel station lease payment they will begin making to the town as per a shared services agreement. After 10 years the fuel tanks will be paid off and the district’s payments end but the fuel sharing agreement continues.
