They pointed out that Joseph DiBlanca has four out of the 11 slots on the list and as a result receives more calls than any other com- pany, which Erichsen and Tortarella said gives DiBlanca an unfair advantage. Story on page 40 WWW.SOUTHERNULSTERTIMES.COM Last week, Marlboro School Superintendent Michael Brooks unveiled a first draft of a conceptual budget plan for the 2016-17 school year, including data on how well students are doing academically. He said he was not yet releasing a specific proposal “of what our budget should look like for 2016-17 because there are too many variables and too many options” at this time, such as what exactly will the district receive in state aid, what the tax cap will be and will the Gap Elimination Adjustment, which is a loss to the district, remain at $329,000. He said “if the cards fall right in Albany” the district may, by shifting and reallocations in budget lines, be able maintain their tax levy at virtually a zero percent tax levy increase. Brooks said although the worst of the power plant sale/reassessment impact is over, the district still has to “find a careful balance between the academic needs, Continued on page 18
