In late January , the Southern Ulster Chamber of Commerce hosted their 3rd annual “ kick-off the New Year Event ” at Novella ’ s Restaurant in New Paltz . The evening started with Lloyd Justice Terry Elia swearing in their officers for 2017 .
President William Farrell welcomed everyone , saying the Chamber is always open to new ideas .
“ We ’ re trying to be progressive and I think personally its going to be a great year for business . The things I see happening in just the economy itself , I ’ m really hoping this year that it really starts to take off ,” he said .
Long-time Chamber members Ralph Smith and Larry Rattick , of Accent Financial Group , were one of the evening ’ s sponsors . Smith described their business as “ two-sided ,” encompassing property and casualty coverage with offerings from more than forty insurance companies , while also functioning as a financial services firm .
“ The whole gamut of insurance companies is something we can represent ,” Smith said . “ On the financial services side we are affiliated with the largest independent broker dealer in the U . S ., which is LPL Financial Holdings . By being part of that group it brings into our house representation of every mutual fund company that ’ s available to us . It gives us a wide spectrum to be able to look at for someone who is trying to do some personal , retirement or estate planning , whatever it might be .”
