Marlborough Police Officers lined up for the ceremony

For the past eight years the Marlborough Police Department and the Town Board have held a Blue Light ceremony to honor members in Law Enforcement who lost their lives in the line of duty .
Officer Curt Fulton said the town ’ s officers are there to serve and protect the public at the most vulnerable moments in their lives , keeping the peace between order and chaos . Fulton said the Christmas tree in their lobby has 132 light bulbs on it , each representing an officer who was killed while serving in uniform in the United States this year . He said since putting the tree up on December 1 he has had to add five new lights , pointing out that on average one officer is killed every 53 hours while performing their duties . Rev . David Ballou offered a prayer . “ Lord God in heaven we thank you for the opportunity to come this evening for this solemn occasion and we thank you for these who are in Blue , our present police force . We thank you , Lord God ,
