Last week members of the Lloyd
Town, Planning and Zoning boards met
jointly to discuss a conceptual plan for
a residential/commercial project known
as Valley View, consisting of 144 multifamily rental units and 38,000 sq./ft. of
commercial development on a 39 acre
parcel located between North Road and
Route 9W in Highland. The Town Board is
the lead agency on this project and if they
approve the rezoning the project would
then go before the Planning Board for
their review and input.
Developer Anthony Ariola, of Front
Street LLC, is petitioning the Town
Board to change the zoning of his parcel

Santa never forgets to stop in
Highland during the busy holiday
season. On Friday evening he was
escorted into the hamlet in a fire
truck, courtesy of the Highland Hose
Company, to the great joy of kids of all
ages. Santa presided over the Light Up
the Hamlet ceremony in a downtown
that was dressed up in colored lights
and had all of the children visit him in
Santa’s Workshop just off the village
square.
A Christmas tree was lit in front
of the First United Methodist Church
along with an array of lights that were
hung through the trees.
Kate Jonietz, Chair of the Lloyd
Events Committee, released a statement,
thanking the community for their
participation.
“It’s wonderful how the community
comes together for town events and I
would like to thank the following for
all of their help in prepping for Light
Up the Hamlet: Ethan Jackman for use
of the building for Santa’s Workshop,
Highland Hose Company No.1 for
transporting Santa and Clintondale
Fire District for manning the fire pits,
Baker & Sons for the Christmas Tree
and Cutting Edge Contracting for the
lights for the Christmas Tree and the
trees at town hall, the Highland Huskie
Cheerleaders for energizing the crowd,
the Adonai Lodge #718 and World Oyama
Dojo for handing out candy canes, the
