Continued on page 33 Compass Rose Lloyd amends sign law Billboards still out by 2020 By MARK REYNOLDS [email protected] The Lloyd Town Board unanimously passed a resolution at their Nov. 18 meeting to amend the town’s sign law. The resolution targets the Digital section of the sign law and will give the town “additional controls over the placement, type and appearance of those signs; the inclusion of the Gateway Zones in the ordinance, limiting signs in the Gateway Zone in the same manner as Design Business and General Business signs.” The board has retained a sunset provision that calls for the removal of all large wooden billboards by 2020. The frame of the “Compass Rose” has been laid out at the Highland Landing Park and will be filled in with concrete in ivory, magenta and teal coloring. If the weather remains cold, the project will be finished in the spring. WWW.SOUTHERNULSTERTIMES.COM Cablevision Merger After Roger Connor, of the Hudson Valley News Network, spoke on the future direction of Cablevision, which operates in the Town of Lloyd, the board approved a resolution that states they support the merger of Cablevision with the Altice Corporation, who will now indirectly control the franchise. Connor told the board that Altice is a European cable company with an estimated 35 million customers and is moving into the U.S. market, startContinued on page 5
