At the meeting Haab said she was “ astounded ” and “ dumbfounded ” to learn there are currently 200 vacant positions within the NYS Department of Education despite funding that has already been allocated but not released by the state budget office . Haab said it is unclear why these positions have remained unfilled but she will be contacting local legislators to see if an answer can be provided .
“ Its not fair to the state education department and not fair to the district when we need those services ,” she said , adding that her “ personal , unpolitically correct opinion ” is that Gov . Cuomo is using his power to hold onto the cash “ because he doesn ’ t see eye to eye with the Commissioner ” on such issues at the APPR .

Lunch for Buildings and Grounds
Haab and Asst . Superintendent Sarah Dudley-Lemek recently hosted a luncheon for all of the buildings and ground staff .
“ They have done an absolutely extraordinary job this summer working around the construction ,” Haab commented . “ I know this summer they allocated their staffing a little differently [ as ] some of them have moved from building to building instead of staying in one building . The amount of painting and upkeep that they ’ ve been able to do is commendable ; they really stepped it up .”

Police Blotter Town of Lloyd

Alexander G . Palleschi , 25 , of Highland , was arrested Aug . 24 and charged with Criminal Mischief 4th degree and Aggravated Harassment 2nd degree after he was involved in a domestic dispute . He was arraigned by Town of Marlboro Judge Jackson and released and is due back in the Town of Lloyd Court at a later date .
Charles Jones Jr ., 45 , of Marlboro , was arrested Aug . 25 and charged with Criminal Contempt 2nd degree . He is accused of violating an Ulster County Family court Order of Protection . He was arraigned before Town of Lloyd Judge Elia and released and is due back in Town Court Sept . 1 .
Robert O . Curry , 36 , of Poughkeepsie , was arrested Aug . 21 on a bench warrant for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd degree . He was arraigned before Town of New Paltz Judge Bacon and released on $ 500 cash bail and is due back in the Town of Lloyd Court at a later date .
Hannah M . Vanravenswaay , 26 , of Wappingers Falls , was arrested Aug . 29 and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs , Criminally Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree and Criminal Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument after the vehicle she was operating ran off the roadway on Rte . 9W and struck a light pole in the parking lot of the Rite Aid store in Highland . Vanravenswaay was released on tickets and is due in the Town of Lloyd Court Sept . 15 .

Lloyd police participate in Alzheimer ID bracelet program

The Town of Lloyd Police Department has initiated an Alzheimer ’ s Identification Bracelet Program . Our agency has purchased purple bracelets ( the color the Alzheimer ’ s Association uses to promote Alzheimer ’ s Disease awareness ) to be distributed to members of the community that suffer from late stages of Alzheimer ’ s disease and have the potential of walking or wandering away from their loved ones .
Alzheimer ’ s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and more than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer ’ s . Each bracelet distributed will include an inscription with the person ’ s name , date of birth and an emergency contact number to allow members of emergency services to easier reunite them back with their families .
The bracelets and inscriptions will be provided free of charge to qualifying Town of Lloyd residents . The cost of the engravings on the bracelets has been donated by Bill Ludeke of B & L Jewelers , New Paltz ..
