Lions Club sponsors brunch in the park
By MARK REYNOLDS
[email protected]
On August 9, the Marlboro Lions Club
sponsored their annual senior brunch at
the Town Park.
Ralph Walters said the club has hosted
the luncheon for the past 20 years. He
said the event is usually scheduled for
the summer because much of the food
is prepared in the schools when they
are closed; the chicken was cooked at
the High School and the potatoes at the
Middle School.
Walters said the event is well attended
but they never know exactly how many
will come since they do not ask for a
RSVP from the seniors.
Lions Club President Stephen
Jennison said the brunch is, “a great day
to get the seniors out and we’re doing
some community support, which is what
we’re supposed to do because we’re here
to serve. It’s our motto.”
Jennison said during the holiday
season the Lions Club hangs decorative
lighting and banners in the hamlet of
Milton and Marlboro.
James Kent digs deep for the steamed corn.
