Clintondale Fire Department celebrates 90th birthday

After months in development, the
Lloyd Town Board has completed a draft
of a new towing law. The legislative
intent of the new law aims to clarify
“certain procedures and requirements
for creation and use of a towing list
by the Town Police. The amendment is
designed to protect the health, safety and
welfare of town residents.”
The task of developing the new law
was done by Councilmen Kevin Brennie
and Mike Guerriero. Brennie said one
of the goals of the new law is to close
past loopholes so that it is fair to all
tow operators. Guerriero said all of the
definitions that were in the older towing
code were reviewed and updated “so we
can easily enforce this code a little bit
better. We created penalties if things
weren’t followed through.”
Brennie said having multiple
companies use one lot to bring their tows
has been eliminated.
“All towing companies must own,
lease or sublease either a lighted and
fenced or indoor storage facility available
in which to store specified vehicles out of
public access and within a half-mile of
the Town of Lloyd.” In addition, the new
law states that the storage facility shall
be under the jurisdiction of the applicant
and cannot be used by any other towing
company. Each towing company must
also have a valid DMV shop registration.
