POSTMASTER: Send address changes to Southern Ulster Times, 300 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 Hein rules out run for Congress With an already crowded field of candidates to challenge John Faso in 2018 for his seat in Congress, Ulster County Executive Mike Hein, last week, declared that he will not be one of them. Hein announced last Thursday his decision not to run, but to remain in Kingston and focus on doing “everything in my power” to help the people of Ulster County. “This decision has truly been one of the most difficult of my professional life and one that I have not taken lightly,” the County Executive wrote in a prepared statement. “I know in my heart that as extraordinary as our Country is, the fact remains, we have yet to achieve our full potential.” Hein reflected on accomplishments that included “lowering the property tax burden on hard working middle class families, growing a sustainable local economy and helping spur nothing short of a renaissance in Ulster County” while stressing that more work must be done.
