By MARK REYNOLDS [email protected] At 12:04 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27 the Clintondale Fire Department responded to a call of a house fire at 370 Crescent Avenue in Clintondale. Upon arriving at the scene and finding an active fire, Chief Rick Brooks put out a second alarm that brought to the scene the Modena, Milton, New Paltz, Plattekill and Highland Fire Departments, involving 60 firefighters in the effort. Also at the fire were members of the NYS Police, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, the Plattekill Police Department, the Plattekill Building Inspector, Mobile Life Theresa Korzeniecki Support Services and representatives from Central Hudson. After the fire was knocked down, homeowner Theresa Korzeniecki was found in a second floor bedroom and was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, two family dogs, Cheyenne and Jaxson, also perished in the fire. The cause of death is still under investigation and the fire may have been due to electrical factors. Theresa Korzeniecki, 49, graduated from Highland High School and was a life-long resident of the community. She is survived by her husband Brian and two children Brian Jr. and Marissa along with nine siblings, several in-laws and many nephews and nieces. On Thursday, March 28 at approximately 11 a.m., Law Enforcement from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Lloyd Police Department descended upon the Highland High School and took into custody a 15 year old juvenile for allegedly making a threat on Twitter, referencing the Norwegian terrorist Anders Behring Breivik, who killed 77 people in his country in 2011. The Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms [ATF], in Washington D. C., was the original agency that notified local law enforcement of the threat. The juvenile was quickly apprehended and with the parent’s cooperation, a search was made of two separate homes in the Towns of Plattekill and Esopus where the juvenile resides. The Lloyd Police department released a statement that said, in part, “Although the juvenile suspect was located at Highland High School, no threats were made in regards to Highland High School or any other specific location.
