The best things come in God’s perfect timing
We live in a society where everyone
wants everything right now. I
should have known by being No.
7 in birth order that nothing comes
to me “right now.” My testimony is
not one of a thunder-and-lightning
call to officership. There was no
spectacular chorus of angels singing;
just confirmation that an ordinary girl
received in a rather conventional way.
I am a third-generation Salvationist
and began attending the corps pretty
much straight from the delivery room.
I remember not quite being old enough
to attend Sunbeams but because my
whole family was involved, I joined the
ranks a little early and was known as
the corps Sunbeam mascot.
I could not wait until I was old
enough to begin attending camp at
Camp Grandview. I vividly remember
my dad driving our group on
backroads before the interstate system
was in place. One trip in particular
still sticks in my mind – at the age of

Captain Eileen Farrell
12, in the beautiful setting of Camp
Grandview, I heard the Lord speak to
me and call me into service for him.
Little did I know back then, but 26
years would elapse before I actually

my home corps of Macon and served
in local officership positions wherever
I lived.
Upon meeting my beloved Tim, and
beginning what would be a five-year
courtship, we discussed the call I felt
upon my life. My life verse is from
Proverbs 3:6: In all your ways acknowledge
Him and he will make your paths straight.

Hill bringing the message and Lt.
Colonel Danny Morrow officiating.
Diana Mason was born March
11, 1947, to George and Edna
Mae Mason. She was an only child and grew up in
Orlando, Florida. She attended the Orlando Citadel
Corps and was active in Sunday school, Corps Cadets,
songsters, band and timbrels and attended Sunday
worship services.
She met Bruce Jones of Jacksonville at a divisional
band rehearsal in Tampa in 1962 and their relationship
grew and led to their marriage in 1966. In 1968,
they entered officer training in Atlanta, and were
commissioned with the Undaunted session of 1970.
Diana had the opportunity to serve in many
different appointments in nine divisions and three
U.S. territories. She and Bruce retired from active
service from the Georgia Division in 2008. Diana’s
life was a testimony to her Undaunted session name.
She encountered a number of health issues over the
years but was determined to live a full
