ReEffect 2016 will offer delegates new visions

The 2016 ReEffect conference will be held at the
Atlanta International Corps Jan. 8-10. This year’s
theme, reVision, informs delegates that they must
sometimes see the invisible before they can fully
understand the things that are visible.
Commissioner Phil Needham and Captain Andy
Miller III will be featured speakers along with Amena
Brown, Dr. Krish Kandiah and Amy Williams.
Brown is an Atlanta-based spoken word artist and
speaker affiliated with the Nazarene church.
“She’s very cutting edge and relates very well to
our young people and sharing out of your own story,”
Captain Anne Westmoreland said.
Kandiah is the executive director of the Churches in
Mission and England director for the UK Evangelical
Alliance. Williams works with the gang community
in Chicago and speaks often on the church’s role in
stopping abuses in the juvenile justice system.
“All the speakers that we have are just
phenomenal,” Major Bobby Westmoreland said. “I
think they’re going to challenge us and take us to a
much deeper level.”
Soldiers will also be invited to participate through
speaking and sharing testimonies.
Workshops throughout the weekend will tackle
difficult issues such as race reconciliation and how
certain cultural trends impact ministry.
In past years, delegates have been invited to
participate in community service opportunities with
area corps. This year, in line with the theme of seeing
the poor differently, opportunities to help will be
replaced by opportunities to learn.
