“ Our Rookie ’ s Cookies , the little butter wafer , ( are very well known ,” she said . “ We make a line of cookies that are dipped in either milk chocolate or white chocolate .”
Rookie ’ s also makes baked pastries , along with cakes and pies to order .
“ We make something we call a long roll , it ’ s really popular with older customers ,” she said . “ And a buttercream coffee cake , it ’ s split and has butter cream icing and then pecan topping sometimes .”
Her daughter and niece help out around the shop , meaning four generations of the family have worked there .
Augsburger said that special touch is what sets Rookie ’ s Cookies apart .
“ I think it ’ s the personal attention to detail ,” she said . “ The detail . You ’ re not getting something you can get at any grocery store . You ’ re getting something that is homemade , made in house and usually a little higher quality .”
Edgar Rook developed Rookie ' s Cookies more than eight decades ago in New Albany .
