Eddie Gilstrap Motors was founded in 1937 by Eddie himself and provides a source for new and used Ford products in the Southern Indiana area . Although their lot features the Ford inventory , models from other brands are available as well . Quality products , exceptional customer service , and reliable maintenance and repair work are the company ’ s trademark . Some of the staff have over thirty years ’ experience with Gilstrap .
Gilstrap sold the business in 1968 to Gene and Charlie Brewer . Eddie Gilstrap
Motors was sold again in 1979 to its current owner , Steve Motsinger .
Steve ’ s story is compelling . From the age of 16 , Steve had always told himself that one day he would own his own dealership . At about 12 years of age , he began detailing cars with his uncle before quickly advancing to become the detail and body shop manager . He then took a salesperson position at a Mercury dealership in Seymour before taking on a sales position at Eddie Gilstrap Motors in 1976 .
Three years later , at the young age of 26 , Steve was offered the opportunity to purchase the store from the Brewers who were looking to retire . Since then , Eddie Gilstrap Motors has been family owned and operated . Steve ’ s children , who used to run up and down the hallways of the dealership , have become part owners themselves .
