Callistus Smith Agency

In 1947 , Callistus Smith began an insurance agency in his home in Starlight . The business , owned by Callistus and his wife , Geneva , remained at that location until 1962 when he moved to a small office in Floyds Knobs .
To accommodate growth in business and personnel , the office was then moved across the street to 3415 Paoli Pike in 1997 . It remains in that location to this day .
When Callistus first began the agency , he only offered farm insurance , which made sense as he owned a farm ! Today , the agency offers a full menu of services that provide coverage for all types of personal and business insurance needs . Like many other professionals in the service industries , Callistus Smith Agency employees have had to change
with the times . The most notable changes include how they communicate with customers . They say , “ as we have come into this digital age , email , text , and video meetings are available options , as well as phone calls or in-person meetings . While we possess the technology to communicate in these ways , we still like to connect with our clients on a personal level .”
Through the years , a number of family members have joined in this third-generation insurance agency . Callistus and Geneva have been joined by sons , Ivan and Glenn ; daughter , Nancy ; son-in-law , Mike Heiligenberg ; grandsons , Brian Smith and Adam Smith ; and granddaughter , Hilary Renn .
