Byrne ’ s Garage

Cars are a generational item . From make and model preferences to tinkering in the garage for routine upkeep , automobile choices and work are often a bonding experience within the family . And when the car breaks down , everyone in the family – often from generation to generation - knows about it .
It makes perfect sense to trust the repair work to a business who learned the trade from the family and understand the car ’ s importance to the family . Byrne ’ s Garage is a business just like that . They opened for to service customers in 1973 , approaching 50 years serving the southern Indiana community . The business is a full-service auto repair facility with state-of-the-art technology .
Dawn Byrne-Habermel started working at the garage with her dad in 1993 . Twenty years later she became the owner . The industry has changed dramatically over the years of the family business .
One of the changes involves scheduling service appointments . “ We used to make appointments two to three days out , but most people are busy , and their cars are essential , so they don ’ t have time for that ,” said Dawn . The team works hard to find a way to make same day drop off the standard . Byrne said they achieved that goal by doubling the number of techs on the team and by adding a virtual assistant to their website . You can schedule your appointment at byrnesgarage . com .
Another change in the auto repair business involves tools and machinery . Some of the new tools include a state-of-the-art Hunter alignment machine and an A / C recharging machine that works with the industry ’ s new freon R1234yf . Bryne said their machine is probably the only one in the New Albany area . “ With these new machine purchases , we are capable of cleaning gasoline direct injection ( GDI ) systems and now carry BG products ” she said .
Bobby Byrne and Dawn Byrne-Habermel grew up in their father Robert Byrne ’ s garage .
