Being able to work on projects that benefit Southern Indiana is something Mitch Koetter said he ’ s proud of .
“ It ’ s that sense of gratitude ,” he said . “ It ’ s nice being able to have conversations with friends . For example I was getting my haircut and someone was like ‘ What ’ s going in next to HomeGoods ?’ And I ’ m able to say , ‘ That ’ s Academy Sports .’
He said people are excited when he ’ s able to share that knowledge .
“ We can look back it , especially the four years I ’ ve been there . It ’ s nice to look back , go down the railroad and say ‘ Yeah , that ’ s been us ,” he said .
Tood Magner is someone who ’ s not a member of the Koetter family that ’ s taking over the President of Construction role . He ’ s in his 35th year with the company .

“ When Bob asked me if I ’ d consider ( taking the role ) , first of all it was a huge honor to be considered ,” he said . “ I ’ ve done one job pretty much my entire career here ,” he said . “ About fiveyears into that I got into the estimating and sales division , so I ’ ve been doing that ever since .”
As President , he said he ’ s looking forward to making connections with the staff .
“ My preferred method is in person , rather than emails and texts and things like that ,” he said . “ I really want to try to make a lot more personal contact with employees , our clients and our subcontractors .”
Brian Keith , who has been with Koetter for 19 years , has been named
the President of Koetter Building Services . For his first 12 years with the company he worked in Human Resources and was the director of that department before transitioning to building services .
In his new position he will focus on three business components , repairs and maintenance , fall protection and bourbon remediation .
“( Transition from HR ) started out by accident , they needed some help because the division was a one-man show ,” Keith said . “ He went out and got more work than one person could handle . I decided to step in . We decided because of his work and the foundation he built , we could grow that into a viable business .”
The first year of Koetter Building Services the company brought in $ 500,000 in revenue and now it ’ s around $ 8 million .
Keith said he ’ s been with the company so long because of the culture .
“ Here as a manager we have always been included , our opinions have been valued ,” he said .” It is showing all of our employees , you have opportunity here . You don ’ t ’ have to be family to be moved to the next level .”
