TACKLING TECH By Evan Campbell A virtual fitness experience The coronavirus continues to spread through the United States on a spin cycle setting. We’re (thankfully) under mask orders in public settings, and social distancing seems like a possibility throughout the rest of the year. Needless to say, our physical and mental health has been tested. For me, my workout routine was basically thrown into the trash as COVID- 19 became a pandemic earlier this year. I swam with a group of guys three times a week and went to yoga in a packed heated room four times a month. These fitness options aren’t on the table anymore, especially as my second child may arrive any day now. I’m being as cautious as possible. But thankfully tech has helped pick up the pieces for my physical regimen plus socialization. I downloaded Nike Run Club at the recommendation of a college friend. Available on smartphones and Apple Watch, the app offers leaderboard functionality to compare mileage with acquaintances. On top of that it even will create a training program based off what sort of race you plan to run. My buddies and I decided to schedule a virtual minimarathon for November.
