family owned businesses, have a direct interest in the
community that they live in and work in, whereas outside
larger chain corporations don’t have the same interests
or priorities. When you support a locally owned
family business, you are supporting that family to be
able to eat, have a home, pay for school, textbooks,
babysitting, college, and clothes. That money, if spent
within the local community, stays in that community
instead of going elsewhere.

How will you continue the legacy of
the family business while putting your
own mark on its legacy?
Continue the mission, practice, and principles laid
forth by my grandparents and parents. Continuously
fostering the same level of quality, detail, creativity, and
hard work mentality that started the businesses within
the family.

What’s it like having family members
as coworkers?
It’s a blessing for the most part, it does have its drawbacks
sometimes with disagreements or when stressful
situations arise. Good communication is essential for it
to work, as well as having patience and the ability to not
let business carry over into personal relationships.

What’s something we don’t know about
the Calumet Club?
The checking account name is “The Deep End”
named by my grandfather after the location of the bar in
the lower level, which was supposedly the deep end of
the pool. The presence of a pool was never denied nor
confirmed, and as a play on words regarding money (ie
large investment), is comical to look
