PAID ADVERTISEMENT Rasmussen Chiropractic continues to make ‘miracles happen’ by Erin Walden Staff in front of Rasmussen Chiropractic, located in New Albany. Dr. Christopher Rasmussen didn’t always want to be a chiropractor. When he enrolled in Western Missouri State University, he was in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. By his junior year, he had already been accepted into a master’s degree program and planned on pursuing a career in engineering after graduation. However, life had other plans. Dr. Chris was in his junior year of undergraduate school when a weight lifting injury left him with a ruptured L4 disc. He had paralysis in his right leg and was told by not one but three doctors that the only way to repair the damage was extensive surgery. Leaning on the advice of his mother, a registered nurse, Rasmussen went to a chiropractor as a “last resort.” “We tried chiropractic … to prevent back surgery and within five to six months I was totally back to normal as if nothing had ever happened. At that point, I started looking at this as a possible career because of what it did for me,” Dr. Chris said. “When you are told by three different medical doctors that you need surgery and you’re wasting your time with anything else and then you go to a chiropractor and you’re totally back to normal it totally opens your eyes and makes you see things a little differently.” The nearly miraculous recovery made Dr. Chris take a closer look at a career path he had never considered: chiropractic. “I was convinced,” he said. Now, many years and his own practice later, Dr. Chris and his partner, Dr. Breger, make their own miracles happen at 2652 Charlestown Rd. in New Albany. At Rasmussen Chiropractic, Dr. Chris and Dr. Breger work to alleviate the pain that can come with a misaligned spine. Symptoms such as back pain, leg pain, arm pain, headaches, stiffness, irritation, numbness, or weakness in the arms or legs, indicate it may be time to see a chiropractor. At Rasmussen Chiropractic, the doctor duo sees a range of patients, including those with disc problems, with scoliosis, those who have suffered major or minor injuries, and pediatric patients. 48 September / October 2020
