A little over an hour ’ s drive north into Bartholomew County is another city perfect for people with an interest in exploring art and taking part in holiday events .
Columbus welcomes visitors with a look into its style whether they enter from the Robert N . Stewart Bridge off of IN-46 or the Columbus State Street Connection on State Street . The red bridges introduce the city ’ s passion for modern art and unique architecture .
Public art can be seen for free in parks , in community buildings , on a street median or on sidewalks and takes the form of street lights and bike racks .
The fall and winter months hold annual events celebrating art in different forms .
Tthe 17th annual Deja Vu Art and Fine Craft Show will display works of art made of recycled material on Nov . 12 in downtown Columbus .
Visitors that will not be in Columbus on the event days can check out works of art all year long at the city ’ s various art galleries .

Arch Gallery each provide art displays all year long in the city ’ s downtown . The Galleries at Columbus Learning Center on Ivy Tech Community College Columbus ’ campus also offer new art displays each semester along with permanent exhibits .
Columbus will also host several events this year to bring in the holiday cheer .
The city ’ s annual Christmas Memories Open House will take place on Dec . 1 , presenting an exhibition of holiday decorations and a visit by Santa Claus and his reindeer . The event will include themed Christmas trees , tablescapes , a Charles Dickens Christmas village display and more .
To celebrate the holidays on a more musical note , the Columbus Symphony Orchestra will be performing holiday favorites in a concert free to the public on Dec . 4 . Clark and Floyd County Relaxation and adventure can also be found in Clark and Floyd counties for those that are looking to stay closer to home .
A stay at The Pepin Mansion Historic Bed and Breakfast allows New Albany natives the opportunity to view the city from the perspective of a tourist . Located on Main Street , the B & B is a close place to stay for locals looking for a weekend getaway .
