Appreciation Why do we need it so much ?

Appreciation helps us feel valued . It supports our wellbeing and motivates us to do our best . It validates us and makes us feel like we ’ re making a difference .

Naturally then , in the workplace , appreciation is a powerful everyday tool that leaders can use with their staff . It plays a key role in fostering a positive work-environment and strengthens supervisor-employee relationships . Expressing gratitude to your employees improves productivity and morale and keeps employees engaged and develops staff loyalty . Appreciation also gives employees the motivation to stay focused and deliver positive results , even despite challenging obstacles .
A recent CareerBuilder study shows ,
50-percent of employees tend to stay at their current workplace if they are visibly recognized , while 40-percent of employees who “ do not feel meaningfully recognized will not go above their formal responsibilities to get the job done .”
As the year draws to a close this may be a good time to reflect on : “ When was the last time I expressed appreciation to my employees ?”
