What is your favorite day trip?
How many of Kentucky’ s hidden gems have you been to?
From the closest national monument – Mill Springs Battlefield – to the“ Niagara of the South," Cumberland Falls – there are plenty of fascinating areas of historical and natural beauty to be seen, both within Pulaski and outside its borders.
There are a plethora of cultural options within a day’ s drive, from Somerset’ s very own Virginia to Lexington’ s Kentucky Theatre, Lexington Theater and Lexington Opera House; The Corbin Arena; Renfro Valley; Bowling Green’ s Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center( SKyPAC) and a dozen places in between.
Or, if one is simply looking to spend an hour or two driving around to see the sights, Kentucky may have some of the most scenic drives available. Take Pulaski’ s very own Rattlesnake, for example, otherwise known as Ky. 192, that can lead one out towards Mt. Victory and Bee Rock. And should you want to get out at the former rock home for bees to stretch your legs( and don’ t have a fear of heights), the Old Sublimity Bridge lets visitors stroll across the Rockcastle River and watch the rapids. Wherever your wheels decide to take you, there is more likely something to enjoy once you get there. We asked our readers to tell us about their favorite day-trip destinations in the southeastern Kentucky region, and while some barely left the county, others took us all the way into Tennessee. Certainly there are plenty of ideas for people to choose from if they are looking for a quick-trip idea.( As always, answers may be altered to correct grammar or spelling, or to remove emojis.)
