bar with a colorful antique cabinet stocked with a large variety of wines.
Southern Vines has more than 50 wines that are sold by the glass out of the 100 different brands in their 1,500 bottle inventory.
They also have wines in everyone’ s price range with bottles as little as $ 20 a bottle or as expensive as $ 300 a bottle.
Along with the wine, the bar has charcuterie meat and cheese trees for guests to enjoy.
It’ s here that Southern Vines has their wine tastings, something that Lee said she was most excited about.
“ I love wine and a big part of what we want to do is to teach about wine,” Lee said.“ We took a lot of time and put in a lot of notes about the wines, what they may smell and what they may taste in each wine. So it’ s a learning tool also.” The tastings have been very popular with customers, old and new.“ It’ s been fun. Last Saturday night a young man came in and he had never tasted wine before but he did drink alcohol.” Lee said.“ We talked with him a little bit and he tried a sweet red wine and fell in love with it. He was writing down grape notes and then he tried a couple more types of wine. That’ s exciting and what we love to see.”

Lee ' s vision is exactly what she and Jake accomplished. Stepping into Southern Vines feels like you have stepped into your favorite wealthy, eccentric aunt’ s parlor. The first thing that catches your attention is a beautiful chandelier hanging overhead and the high ceilings with the building’ s original tin tiles painted gold.
There are beautiful walls covered with bold black and white stripes with gold accents, hand painted by the Redmonds, and a large vintage Persian rug on the floor.
The inviting space has a blend of old and new with several large vintage sofas along each side with a mix of black and bold leopard skin patterns and adorned with ornate gold trim.
Mingled into the space are large black tables as well as marble tables and fuzzy faux fur ottomans.
Holding court over the entire space is a huge statue of a black horse named Caesar, reared up on its back legs on a large black table.
On each side of the front space is a small alcove with a table for two in front of a large glass windowoverlooking E. Mt. Vernon Street.
Beyond that on the right stands the beautiful ornate
