The group has sold more than 100 million records worldwide , has been inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received the 2001 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammys . Some of the biggest hits include “ Surfing ’ USA ,” “ Surfer Girl ,” “ Fun , Fun , Fun ,” “ I Get Around ,” “ California Girls ,” “ Help Me Rhonda ,” “ Barbara Ann ,” “ Good Vibrations ,” “ Wouldn ’ t It Be Nice ,” “ Rock and Roll Music ,” and “ Kokomo .”
The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love , who , along with longtime member Bruce Johnston , musical director Scott Totten , Brian Eichenberger , Christian Love , Tim Bonhomme , John Cowsill , Keith Hubacher and Randy Leago , continue the legacy of the band . This concert will not feature Brian Wilson , Al Jardine or David Marks .
Everybody has experience with fantasizing about a neat car , relationships that don ’ t work out , socializing and getting out and meeting other people . And the music was fun . “ In reality , who would not want to go on a surfing safari ? It sounds really fun ,” Love said .
Then , in the 1980s , The Beach Boys had a resurgence , bringing their music to a whole new generation . “‘ Kokomo ’ went No . 1 in 1988 , 22 years after ‘ Good Vibrations ’ hit No . 1 , and it was on Full House ,” Love said . The group made several appearances on the popular family show starring John Stamos , a lifelong fan of the band . “ When Stamos does come out and perform with us , when he ’ s not busy , he loves coming out and playing drums , and we back him on ‘ Forever .’ We ’ ve had a great relationship and a great time together over the years .”
So what keeps Love and The
Beach Boys going 60 years after forming ? For Love , it comes down to his practice of Transcendental Meditation , which has brought him to the Golden Dome of Fairfield before . “ That gives you a lot of clarity and energy to be able to recover from a lack of sleep and stressful situations ,” the singer said . “ We also have a great crew that goes in advance and sets up . All we have to do is focus on getting rest and performing .”
It ’ s also the energy of the concerts themselves . “ The concerts are fun . So many people like so many of our songs . They love the songs , and it became part of their family experience growing up . It ’ s very uplifting for me ,” said Love , who co-wrote many of the group ’ s biggest hits such as “ Good Vibrations ,” “ Kokomo ,” “ Surfer Girl ,” “ Fun , Fun , Fun ” and more . “ It ’ s fun for me personally to see how much those songs are loved by thousands and thousands if not
