Nov . 18 Knoxville Living Windows : “ A Storybook Christmas ,” 5-8 p . m ., downtown Knoxville . The evening includes the ceremonial tree lighting , a visit from Santa and Mrs . Claus , light refreshments , activities and crafts , roving carolers and more . Additionally , stores will be open late for a jump-start on the holiday shopping season .
Nov . 19 “ A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage ,” 6:30 p . m ., Bridge View Center , Ottumwa . The timeless classic joins Charlie Brown , Snoopy , Lucy , Linus and the rest of the Peanuts characters in their journey to uncover the true meaning of Christmas . The live stage adaptation brings all the characters to life and is set to the original special ’ s dialogue as well as the classic Vince Guaraldi musical score . After the final bow , the audience is invited to join the Peanuts gang in singing traditional Christmas songs and carols . Tickets and VIP packages for the show go on sale at 9 a . m . Nov . 19 to Dec . 31 Holiday nights ’ n Lights , Greater Ottumwa Park , Ottumwa . This holiday tradition has drawn more than 230,000 people from all over Iowa and the Midwest to view the lighted spectacle . Nov . 20 Turn on the Lights , 5:30-8 p . m ., City Square Park , Oskaloosa . Oskaloosa Main Street is kicking off the holiday season by turning on the Painting with Lights . Volunteers from the Oskaloosa City Band will put on a holiday concert while patrons enjoy meeting Santa and Mrs . Claus and their reindeer , eating cookies and hot cocoa and seeing the beautiful downtown holiday lights display . The lights turn on at 6 p . m . with horse-drawn wagon rides running from 6-8 p . m .
Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra Holiday Kickoff Concert , 7:30 p . m ., First Presbyterian Church , 228 W . Fourth St ., Ottumwa . The program includes “ Ev ’ ry Valley ” and “ Comfort Ye ” from Handel ’ s Messiah featuring Dennis Whillhoit ; “ Winter ” from “ The Four Seasons ” by Vivaldi featuring violinist Nancy Gaub ; and “ O , Holy Night ” by Adolf Adam featuring Pastor Bill Hornback .
