The Night Before Christmas walking tour
The story will begin at Hawkeye Real Estate and take readers on a loop around the Square , hitting 15 local businesses .

Throughout the rest of the season , holiday events can be found all around Oskaloosa , with individuals working behind the scene every day to bring holiday magic to the city .
“ I like being involved in things that ’ s going to put a smile on someone ’ s face ,” said Jane Nicholson , a community member , business owner and volunteer . “ To give them a good feeling , a good feeling of home and family .”
Nicholson ’ s own business , Mahaska Drug , will host several of its own holiday events , allowing fun holiday opportunities for community members and visitors alike .
But Nicholson is just one of the many dedicated characters making Mahaska County ’ s holidays memorable . To say they paint the city in lights is an understatement as the facades of downtown buildings and snow-covered sidewalks transform the community staple into a scene straight out of a Hallmark move — one that can only been seen here in southeast Iowa ’ s Oskaloosa .
The walking tour is brought to you by the Golden Goose Club , Main Street Iowa and funded by Mahaska County Community Foundation .
