Pilgrim Parent-Child
Overnight Camp Ages 8–Adult *
Join the crew of the tallship Pilgrim for an evening of
fun and adventure. Modeled after our award-winning
living history programs, this exciting camp provides the
opportunity for parents to share a unique and dynamic
experience with their child while creating a long-lasting
memory! Families will step back in time and partake in
a variety of shipboard activities including rowing in the
harbor, raising sail, going up the mast in a boatswain’s
chair, singing chanteys, and listening to seafaring stories
from the Captain. Hearty meals are included. Shipboard
activities are conducted while safely at dock.

OVERNIGHT CAMPS
Island Bound Camp
Ages 11–13
Voyage to Catalina Island aboard the schooner Spirit of
Dana Point. This camp draws participants into the life of
tallship sailing and reveals the rich marine resources of a
beautiful California island. Day one of camp is spent at the
Ocean Institute gaining in-depth, hands-on experience
before heading to sea. During your island voyage, you will
team up with our professional crew for sailing, navigating,
and learning rope work. Our marine biologists will lead
classes and labs on a variety of marine-related subjects
and take you kayaking, swimming and snorkeling. This
voyage of discovery will be an adventure to remember!
Time: Day 1 at Institute – 10:00am - 4:00pm
Days 2–4 at sea –Depart on day 2 at 8:00am;
Return day 4 at 3:00pm

Ocean to Alpine Adventure
NEW
Open to high school students who have completed the
9th grade. Join a group of like-minded young people for
the summer adventure of a lifetime! Science, community
service, and outdoor exploration will be the focus of this
week-long camping trip through the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Experience the wilderness by swimming
in lakes, exploring mountain streams, hiking rugged trails,
and sleeping under the stars. We will be setting up base
camps and going on excursions to day-hike in the Ancient
Bristlecone Pine Forest, canoe Mono Lake, volunteer
doing habitat restoration and explore California’s public
lands. Learn the best way to set up a tent, cook outdoors,
earn volunteer hours, all-thewhile developing life-long
