Depression-era farmhouse in Texas . “ My room in that house was first a living room , which was later converted to our kitchen ,” she said .
“ I enjoyed watching my mom design and renovate the attic space into two bedrooms and a bathroom - a huge influence on me as a teenager . I was absolutely fascinated that one could convert a room into a completely different space , and I enjoyed the process .” Now based in the Lowcountry , splitting her time between South Carolina and Georgia , Collins wears nearly every design hat , from landscapes to interiors , D . I . Y . projects and homemaking , documenting all of her projects and suggestions on her blog , “ Saltmarsh and Spurs .” Collins says her writing “ has been an exploration of my personal style mixed with my broader design aesthetic that I incorporate into my clients ’ homes and private projects .” When she is not writing , Collins provides interior , landscape and pool design consultations for clients who seek her refined , thoughtful style .
