Kenneth Lucas“ Luke” Smith, Sr. was well known in the Golden Isles of Georgia community for his body of work as a professional pho tographer. Luke passed away November 30, 2017, at the relatively young age of forty-three, from a lung infection and heart failure. A primary passion in his life w as his three children, Gloria, Lucas, and Noah whom he lo ved and of whom he w as proud. But his children were not the only people he lo ved and who lo ved him. Numerous people in the pho tography community regarded Luke not only as a colleague but also as a friend. H e had a dis arming smile and an infectious laugh that communicated his ob vious interest in other people. Luke had worked over ten years in the truck leasing and logistics business. So when he decided to become a professional pho tographer, some of his family and friends wondered wh y and whether he would succeed. But as an artis t with a camera, he was somehow able to cap ture the essence of his subjects and the mood of the ev ent he was covering. He said,“ I try to add to the to tal sum of happiness in the liv es of everyone I come in contact with.” He left many loving memories as his legacy.
