This year’s theme is “A Royal Affair,” inspired by the 1732 Charter of Georgia from King George II. The highlight of the night will be the induction of the newest Georgia Trustees, Ed Bastian, and Paul Bowers by Governor Nathan Deal, Georgia’s 82nd Governor. Located at the Hyatt Regency, the Georgia Historical Society’s premier annual event will feature an evening of dinner, dancing, and enlightening conversation to ring in the new Trustees and to take pleasure in their name, deeds, heirs, and successors. As the culmination of the Georgia History Festival, this event happens only once a year and attracts the paragon of local, state, and national leaders and figures to recognize and honor all the beautiful State of Georgia has to give. Founded in 1839 with the dedication to collecting, examining, and cultivating a knowledge of Georgian and American history, the Georgia Historical Society is the oldest continuously performing state historical society in the South as well as being one of the oldest historical organizations nationwide. A silent auction with an assortment of high-end items will start off the evening, following with a dinner and dancing to live music. Therapeutic riding courses and an equestrian program in partnership with schools in the area helps children develop social and physical skills while in a fun and interactive learning environment. Located at the Tybee Wedding Chapel, this black-tie event brings the community together to highlight a unique and powerful program designed to get kids active in the safest and most nurturing way.
