Dr.
JOHN PALETTA’S APPROACH TO PLASTIC SURGERY BEGINS AT
THE PATIENT LEVEL. THE BOARD-CERTIFIED PHYSICIAN AT
THE GEORGIA INSTITUTE FOR PLASTIC SURGERY WORKS WITH
EACH PATIENT TO COME UP WITH A PLAN OF ACTION BEFORE
ANY PROCEDURE IS PERFORMED. “I spend all the time with them they
need,” says Dr. Paletta. “If a patient needs an hour and half of my time to go through all of
their questions, that’s what they will get.”
Dr. Paletta is one of four board-certified physicians at The Georgia Institute for Plas-
tic Surgery. Through various cosmetic procedures, he is focused on giving patients the
self-confidence they’ve always wanted. “It’s amazing to see the confidence that someone
has after surgery,” says Dr. Paletta. “They may have had some already, but my surgery can
enhance it. It’s extremely rewarding to see someone come out of their shell.”
While Dr. Paletta is skilled in a breadth of cosmetic surgery procedures, he’s one of a
handful of plastic surgeons in the area who perform the No Drain Tummy Tuck. The
innovative procedure is changing how patients feel after surgery. “Before the No Drain
method, patients who had a tummy tuck would have to use drains anywhere to a week
to three weeks,” says Dr. Paletta. “Now we use quilting sutures, which eliminate the
need for drains. This provides more comfort for our patients and leads to a lesser scar.”
Dr. Paletta hasn’t used drains in any tummy tuck procedure in well over a year and
a half and says he’ll never use drains again. “I’ve had patients referred to me by other
people who have had a tummy tuck with drains. The No Drain Tummy Tuck is the best
by far in terms of patient comfort.”
Trained at the University of Pittsburgh, one of the top plastic surgery training
programs in the country, Dr. Paletta is always staying on top of the latest procedures
and techniques. He says there is no margin for error in his work. He’s also staying on
top of his patients’ care. “If a patient has a skin biopsy, I personally call them with the
results. If they had surgery, I call them after to make sure that they aren’t having any
problems with recovery.”
It’s that human touch he says is invaluable in his field. Dr. Paletta is a doctor who
knows what it’s like to want to feel better about yourself. Recently, he lost 85 pounds
and adopted a healthy lifestyle. “The majority of my patients don’t have to have sur-
gery; it’s a choice they make in order to feel better about themselves. When you feel
better about yourself, your whole life can change.”
