Helen Chadwick
I have always seen Helen Chadwick as someone with
enormous courage, curiosity and tenacity, forging
her own path in her work and ideas. Not afraid to
take risks, be playful, immerse herself in scratching
beneath the surface of the skin, exposing the raw
in her search to understand the human condition
and mystery of the life cycle. She explored, amongst
many avenues, the physical properties of common
household materials, referencing art history, science,
physical sensations, erotica, humour, disgust all
in one, both in the minute detail and the
grand gesture of her pieces.
