Wangari Muta Maathai
1940-2011, Kenyan environmental and political
activist, Maathai founded the Green Belt Movement,
a non-governmental organisation focused on the
planting of trees by women to improve quality of life
and limit environmental degradation. First African
woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004.
She initiated The Billion Tree Campaign in 2006
and she encouraged even greater vision and now
the target of 12 billion trees has been surpassed.
My dinner place for her is in response to her call
for all of us to work together for peace.
